I’m currently a little too pished to type out a proper post, but I just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone that has taken the time to e-mail/facebook/skype birthday greetings & congratulations. I will try and reply properly to everyone over the next couple of days, but in the mean time THANK YOU.
Everything is fine here, I have spent the day with Ira & Anna and Mum & John in person, and others via online messaging etc. having a good time, and being congratulated on my 30th birthday. I did try and stay sober for AlexC and Seb’s arrival, but they were unexpectedly delayed, so I’m no longer 100% compus mentus. Hmmm, firefox UK dictionary not helping me with Latin (Greek?), sorry.
Brilliant day, superb company, really good to hear from everyone.
Apparently friends have arrived, so I’ll sign off for now. Thanks to all the family and friends that have passed on good wishes and sentiments, most, most, MOST appreciated.

Happy Birthday Irina !?!
Yep, today is Irina’s birthday. Not my wife Irina, but our friend’s daughter. So huge congratulations (pazdravlyayoo, as I still can’t use Cyrillic characters on this blog). I hope your day brings lots of hugs, kisses, presents and cards, and that you start and finish the day with a big smile.
Later on today Alex, Mat (her fiancΓ© that we’ve not yet met) and Seb are all hopefully coming over. Alex and Mat have taken a holiday from Australia to visit their homeland (Britain), see Anna for the first time, and also get together for a meal for my own birthday. I need to check if the outdoor furniture is in the backyard, as we are hoping to have a barbecue if the weather is good enough π Failing that, cheeseburger and chips from the oven, along with a few shots of nice Welsh vodka should still do the trick. I’m even allowing myself to hope that City Link will actually deliver a few parcels.
[edit]
City Link delivered this morning. Begrudging thanks to them for getting their act sorted in time.

Park By The Pub With A Crazy Golf Course
4th April – I’ll try and remember to update this post’s title when I discover the real name for the park in Swansea. I think I tweeted from there, and possibly originally included a snapshot from my phone and the GPS location. Anyway, Irina and I originally visited this area (Sketty Lane? Rd?) a few years ago, and wanted to take Anna there before we left for Kazakhstan. You can’t quite walk right around the little pond there unless the sun has dried out the muddy patches, but Gwen enjoyed the trip, and we popped over the road to see the beach before we left. Which reminds me, if anyone found our cute little baby toy, that can be suspended from a pram’s handle, in the area, let me know π
It looks as though there weren’t any photos taken on Irina’s camera for another three weeks. I’m guessing Anna’s immunizations, drop in clinics, my and John’s 30th and 60th birthdays, preparations for moving to Kazakhstan and other assorted distractions kept us from taking many shots. Or I just forgot to copy them over from the memory card. Anyway, one more post to go before I’ve emptied the hard drive of Anna Photos. This batch of posts were originally written around 16th/17th May, and scheduled for publishing over a week or so, to ensure people had a chance to see the pictures before they dropped off the bottom of the first page, and also as a rather blatant attempt to encourage people to become regular visitors here π

Pip & Con Come To Visit
Moving on to the 3rd April (only two more posts to go before I’ve exhausted the supply of photos on my hard drive (I still need to check Irina’s camera’s memory card for more recent shots)), and Pip & Con came over to visit. With Con soon heading off to Thailand (by the time this post actually appears on the blog, he should have finally made his flight onwards to Australia, fingers crossed), Pip kindly volunteered to drive him over to Wales to see Anna before he went. She hadn’t seen Anna either, so it wasn’t an entirely selfless act. From what I remember, and the Facebook photos suggest, we got through a fair amount of vodka, once Anna was safely asleep, and they managed to set off the next day for England with only a few hours missing from their work shift π

The Greenery In Holland
arrrrrrrrrrrrgh, lost all the text I originally entered for this post during the downtime my sites had. Will try and remember what I was thinking about roughly…
Two types of Greenery, the first are coming, the second are at the end of the post, click the Continue Reading or similar link…
1) Shot out the window of the bus to Keukenhof (having changed forms of transport at Leiden, with a stop off to Double A, a coffeeshop a little off the beaten track. Tulip fields abound in this area. May well do a separate post for Keukenhof itself, these photos are all from a collection I posted at a couple of Amsterdam Coffeeshop forums a while back.
Here we have a pretty water fountain/sculpture at the entrance to the gardens.
A shot of a man playing with his organ in Holland. Wonder if that will get me any search engine based traffic π

Anna’s Adopted Tree And Torchwood
Dad came over again to see Anna on the 27th March, and we went to pick a tree in a newly planted forest-to-be that Anna’s Great Aunty Chris (on Dad’s side) had adopted on her behalf. After we all managed to meet up (which reminds me, I still need to find a good recommendation for a GPS unit for Dad), we took Anna’s pushchair off the beaten track for the first time, and found the saplings (is that the right term? Baby trees basically). Having marked off the exact point on TomTom, we took a few photos, went for a walk around the countryside in that area, and then went off to find a nice place to have a pub lunch. After that we headed into Cardiff, as despite family living there, Irina and I hadn’t been around the city at all, and I’d not been to the bay area at all since it has been redeveloped. Once there, we had to take the obligatory photos next to one of the fictional entrances to the Torchwood Institute, went for another wander, then had a nice drink by the sea.
In years to come, I hope we can take Anna back to the forest, and show her the tree slowly maturing into a unique feature, just as she will π

Anna Is Not Confused
This day (26th March) was quite a landmark for everyone around in Clydach at the time – Anna took her first ever bottle feed. Although Irina is still breastfeeding Anna, we wanted to make sure that if Irina ever had to go somewhere for a few hours without Anna, that feeding would not be a problem. Having expressed enough milk in advance, we put her in her favourite chair, introduced the bottle’s teat to Anna’s mouth, and that was all that was needed – she immediately sucked (suckled?) well, and finished the bottle in one sitting. Afterwards, she showed no sign of confusion about going back to the breast. Hopefully we’ll not need to actually use the bottle until she is weaned off the breast, but it is very reassuring to know that it shouldn’t be a problem if the need arises.
