Shot five days after the previous clip (making it the 20th of January), here we have Anna engrossed in one of her favourite past times. The top and bottom drawers of the computer desk seem to get the most attention, so they have already been cleared of anything sharp/bad tasting/flammable. Sometimes she takes out one item at a time, plays with it a little, then dumps it on the floor before moving on to the next thing. Other times everything is taken out at the same time, then just often left on the floor. On rare occasions, Anna will even put things into the drawers!

Anna Finally Dancing On Video!
The post title says it all really – after complaining earlier that I hadn’t managed to catch Anna actually grooving away to her songs, I found this video from the 15th of January, where Irina did manage to do so.

Watching But Not Dancing
OK, so after double checking the YouTube uploads, I can now add recording Anna actually dancing rather than just watching the television to the list of things to record. Walking around should now be easier to capture at least, as she doesn’t require us to be ready to catch her at a moments notice. Normally 🙂
Shot on the same day as the previous photos (14th January), these clips are of Anna dancing watching her favourite DVD. We’ve already ripped the audio from the DVD, should she seem in need of listening to her favourite tunes, without the added visual stimulation that may delay bed times etc.

Temporary Kazakh Ice Rink In Astana
Forgot to include these videos in the earlier post, sorry. Not forgot exactly, just stuck in the need for separate posts for videos and pictures that involve Anna. As the pictures and videos don’t include her, they won’t be automatically imported to her site. In case you missed the earlier post, this ice rink has been set up in a car park next to the big entertainment/Aquarium centre (Duman) not too far from our flat. There is a large tower in the middle which seems to play a music video channel, and since the schools are now back in session, the rink is quite empty normally. If I had my own skates, was able to use both legs whilst trying to move forward on the ice, and didn’t have to consider how to look after Anna following the inevitable sprained ankle, I might have popped down 🙂

Happy Burst Bubble Day!
Bubble wrap is fifty years old today! I have yet to come across someone with bubble wrap in their hands who doesn’t squeeze a few off, even if the precious contents of the box the wrap is inside is supposed to be more fun. Unlike the use thought up by the writers of Red Dwarf, bubble wrap was actually created as a sort of funky textured wall paper. Great unless you have children, cats or adults with poor impulse control in the house! People have taken the idea of Red Dwarf’s Tension Sheet, and created a viable product – a little keyring attachment with five or six permanent bubbles on it – pop one and the air just re-inflates a previously “popped” bubble!
^^ No idea about the video, it was just first one I could find of people seeming to enjoy the popping 🙂 ^^

Almost Dancing
Shot on the 26th of December, here we have another video of Anna not dancing as much once the camera was rolling 🙂 We have already backed up the Wheels On The Bus DVD, and use the copy, as if it were to break (Anna likes standing on top of DVD cases, I’ve since moved them away from the TV area) I think we would miss the collection of children’s songs a lot. Some of the tracks really get her bouncing around, whilst others seem to just grab her attention with the bright colours on screen. We try to make sure she doesn’t normally stand so close to the screen, though she already has enough independence to ignore us when we make silly requests like “Don’t touch that!” or “Come and play over here please” 🙂

Soothing Singing
Only a brief glimpse of Anna in these videos, the main stars are Lara and DanD’s kids who were singing for their supper. Actually I think it may have been a dress rehearsal for a performance they were due to give in their school for a New Year celebration, but it was appreciated anyway. Another fleeting shot of the Dombra Hero t-shirt again. It was designed and is sold by a friend of ours, and I’ve not written a post on it still, which is quite shameful. If you know anyone who is into their Guitar Hero games, or wants a slightly more intellectual chuckle than your run of the mill unoriginal Borat themed Kazakhstan clothing, check out the link. They deliver globally, with some even making their way to Afghanistan!

Opening Presents With Anna
As previously mentioned this was Anna’ first Christmas, and so we wanted to make sure she had a good day, even if she was totally oblivious to the date 🙂 We had a couple of presents for her to open on the 25th, a few more on New Year’s Day (which is celebrated a lot more over here), and we’re hoping to have a mini-belated-Christmas again once we arrive in Britain.
Anyway, these videos concentrate on Anna opening one of her presents – a match the animal to their hole jigsaw type of thing. As expected the wrapping and gift card were initially of a lot more interest, and as Irina had wrapped it, it took Anna a while to break into the securely packaged gift 🙂

Christmas Eve Dancing From Anna
You may remember I received some sort of automated warning from YouTube as they noticed I had a Christmas tune on in the background when we recorded Anna dancing. Well assuming they don’t remove it before this post goes live (a gap of four days or so), you should be able to see it below…

Davay Davay Baris!
It was around two years ago that I went to my first ice hockey game, and just before Christmas (Xmas Eve’s Eve I think) I went with DanD and JohnA to go and see Baris (Astana’s team) play a Russian side. Having now been to two matches, I almost feel confident enough to guess what the hell is going on. Sometimes. DanD found the following website, that does a pretty good job of explaining what is going on, in simple terms. Just wish he’d found it before hand 🙂
