Where Is Anna?

Category: Friends,PersonalChrisM @ 2:20 pm

Or more precisely, I’m guessing some relatives are wondering where the new Anna photos are. With Mum & John away in Spain still, doctor’s appointments for Anna, Pip and Con coming last weekend, ChrisD hopefully coming tomorrow, and a party in Cirencester this Saturday night, it is entirely possible you’ll need to wait until Sunday for updated photos, sorry.

In the mean time, Con is still raising money for the hungry and homeless his trip to Australia. See previous posts linking to his massive vinyl collection sell off, DJ decks auction etc. He is now clearing out his a lot of his carpentry toolbox, so should you need a jigsaw (4340FCT Top handle Jigsaw), a router (of the wood variety, not networking 🙂 (BOSCH POF1200AE)), a circular saw (Ryobi WS6613), or a Planer (Makita 1902), head on over to the e-bay auction page here. Ta.

Pip & Con Come To Visit

Category: Anna's Photos,Friends,PersonalChrisM @ 8:46 pm

Moving on to the 3rd April (only two more posts to go before I’ve exhausted the supply of photos on my hard drive (I still need to check Irina’s camera’s memory card for more recent shots)), and Pip & Con came over to visit. With Con soon heading off to Thailand (by the time this post actually appears on the blog, he should have finally made his flight onwards to Australia, fingers crossed), Pip kindly volunteered to drive him over to Wales to see Anna before he went. She hadn’t seen Anna either, so it wasn’t an entirely selfless act. From what I remember, and the Facebook photos suggest, we got through a fair amount of vodka, once Anna was safely asleep, and they managed to set off the next day for England with only a few hours missing from their work shift 🙂

Quiet Couple Of Days

Category: PersonalChrisM @ 6:05 pm

There hasn’t been any fresh content for a few days, as I’ve been a little ill. Anna is doing fine, just had our last appt. with the health visitor, and Anna is just a smidge over 5kg (11lb 1or3(?)oz). Pippa and Con are coming over from England to see Anna for the first time, I’ll try to remember to grab a few shots. Which reminds, I need to use the camcorder more often, we’ve hardly done any filming the last fortnight.

The Greenery In Holland

arrrrrrrrrrrrgh, lost all the text I originally entered for this post during the downtime my sites had. Will try and remember what I was thinking about roughly…

Two types of Greenery, the first are coming, the second are at the end of the post, click the Continue Reading or similar link…

1) Shot out the window of the bus to Keukenhof (having changed forms of transport at Leiden, with a stop off to Double A, a coffeeshop a little off the beaten track. Tulip fields abound in this area. May well do a separate post for Keukenhof itself, these photos are all from a collection I posted at a couple of Amsterdam Coffeeshop forums a while back.

Here we have a pretty water fountain/sculpture at the entrance to the gardens.

A shot of a man playing with his organ in Holland. Wonder if that will get me any search engine based traffic 😉

Dear Father Christmas

Category: PersonalChrisM @ 9:24 pm

Finally got around to ploughing through a couple of weeks worth of unread articles over at The Register, and came across a lovely sounding SSD. The capacity (finally) and speed (obviously) are qualities that scream out ‘buy me’ to those of us looking to reduce boot times etc., but the price (for now) and availability (down to Samsung to release their PB22-J to the general public) mean I’ll probably be waiting a while. See the review here.

Just Right Or Too Far?

Fed up with litter on the streets in your area? Happen to live in a relatively small community? It might be worth asking your local shopkeeper to take the same approach as described here

Anna Reaches #1 In Her Sleep

Category: PersonalChrisM @ 7:39 pm

OK, poetic licence used there, she may well have been awake when it occurred, but Anna Merriman‘s site is already #1 on google.com if you search for her name. For some reason google.co.uk drops her to second place, and I’m guessing the top ranking is either temporary or just because the keywords are the domain name, but well done Anna 🙂

Nothing else to add, the post title adequately describes my thoughts on the Pope’s latest decree.

Ethernet History

Category: In The MediaChrisM @ 2:04 am

I happily admit this first link is more for my more geeky friends than the average ChrisMerriman.com regular reader / search engine-source new visitor, but I found The Register’s article on the history of Ethernet quite interesting. Another tab that has been open a while in Firefox on this PC, so I wanted to post it before I forgot. Check it out here.
Oh, and while you’re on the site, if you don’t know whether your nice new shiny little computer is a laptop, subnotebook, ultraportable, ultrathin or a netbook, then check out this article. (Slightly NSFW due to the odd swear word).
