Before Seb left we took a few more shots on the 23rd March, with Gwen once more making an appearance during one of her voluntary (and always supervised, should any readers be concerned) guard dog shifts, Mum not trying to run away from the camera for once (mainly due to not wanting to wake Anna up I assume, me catching up with some English TV before I returned here to Kazakhstan, and Anna’s favourite chair, that vibrates, plays music/ambient noise and lights up…

Driftwood, Seb And Anna
The day (22nd March ยง) after Marilyn arrived, Seb came over to say hi to all of us, and so we decided to take a walk on the beach. As there are three main beaches within easy reach of Clydach, we had to decide where to take him. The Mumbles is possibly the most famous beach near us, but unless you time your visits with the tides correctly, there can be no sand left at all – just the wall and then the sea itself! This left us a choice between one of Swansea’s beaches and Port Talbot’s. Although Swansea itself is a little prettier and seen as more up market (relatively speaking) compared to Port Talbot, Irina and I had been down there quite a few times recently with Anna (and sometimes Gwen), so we hopped onto the motorway for a few junctions, and parked up along the sea front in Port Talbot.
As ever, hover your cursor over the image’s to see their title/description… You could do that, or I could just remember that I only need to leave the caption field blank on tweet posts that are displayed as asides. (Runs off to edit a few earlier posts)
ยง – Why this constant fascination with the dates photos were taken? In case the EXIF data is some how not retained with these JPGs, I wanted to ensure that in years to come, I could easily tell when the pictures were actually taken, rather than when the posts containing them were published. You’ll just have to put up with it for now, sorry…

Aunty Jean And Anna
OK, here is the first of the next batch of Anna photos. It was taken on the 14th March, back in Mum’s kitchen in Clydach. We miss all our family and friends back in Britain, and are already looking forward to this Christmas, when we hope to return for a short while.
I do have some earlier photos to post as well, but some of them may be repeats of photos already published, just taken on a different camera – this was the first photo I was fairly sure hadn’t been posted in one form or another already.

Drive And Walk Or Just Walk?
As I look through the blindsin the upstairs study, I see a green hillside covered in mist (or is that fog, I can never remember when to use each term), but no rain yet. Irina originally wanted to drive down to the coast, over by the Mumbles and go for a walk with Anna. I’d prefer a walk down to the local mini-park, as sod’s law dictates that the moment we’ve finished getting ready for the car, driven down and parked, that worse weather will hit. Conversely, if we do decide to just go for a local walk, the weather will probably quickly change for the better and glorious sunshine will bathe us all… Things still needing to be done today (I’m hoping that publicly posting this will be enough of a catalyst to actually get on with the day ๐ ) are faxing a copy of our marriage certificate overseas, going for that walk, fixing Dad’s computer (I think he has two antivirus clients running concurrently, and helping John with both his old and new blogs, and checking his gallery is set up OK).

Anna Christina Merriman Photos – Last Batch For Today
Today we went to Swansea’s County Hall/Civic Centre, to see the Registrar and officially registered the birth of Anna Christina Merriman. Her middle name is a suitable mixture of Christopher and Irina, which is close to what her patrynomic name would be in Russian. Hopefully the Kazakh red tape guardians will accept this as a suitable choice, and won’t complain.
These photos were all taken around the time Mum showed Ira and I the best approach to bathing little Anna, and we’ve since done this solo without any major mishaps. Irina was a little apprehensive about full on bathing (as opposed to topping and tailing) and safety, so I explained that if the bath shifts around, or looks likely to shoot off the surface its laid on, hold the baby, and forget about trying to stop the bath from falling – as long as Anna is safe and secure, no is going to give a damn about a little spilt water. A case of not throwing the baby out with the bath water ๐

More Anna Photos
As you might guess from the range of dates in these photos, I now have the pictures from John’s cameras, though there is another folder of them somewhere on his hard drive – I’ll have proper search soon.
Here we have a shot in the hospital (in their post delivery ward), just before Anna’s first parent-based nappy change ๐
This is (my) Mum holding Anna in the hospital.
This is a shot from a couple of days ago, showing Anna in her drop side cot, in her current favourite sleeping position with arms up and out.

Quick Photo Post
Please excuse lack of accompanying text and that the photos aren’t cropped/WB sorted etc.
Everything fine here, we have still been reading all the messages from people who’ve texted, twitter, facebook msged, blog comments, sent real world cards & pressies etc., we’ve just not had the time to respond yet. Please do know your thoughts have been received and appreciated ๐
Photos with Mum & John in them are on John’s camera’s card still, I’ll try and grab them later tonight/tomorrow. I’ll also try to title the pics at some point.
Sorry it took a while to get the photos to you all, and thanks again for all your messages.

Amsterdam 2008 Photos #5
OK, so with these photos, it is still April 20 2008, we have arrived in Amsterdam (finally, after connecting flight problems from Kazakhstan the day before), we’ve met some very nice people (fellow Amsterdam forum members) who helped chill me out the day before, and even grouped together to get me a birthday present (I’ll give you one guess ๐ ), found our apartment, been for a walk, and it is now 4.20pm on 4/20 (US date style) , and we’re heading to the 420 cafe to meet up with fellow forum members.

Last Minute Posting Woes
Posting of the parcel kind that is,nothing to do with blogging. Although the vast majority arrived on time, a present for Nick and Mum’s new TV haven’t arrived. Nick is here with his girlfriend Roz until tomorrow early AM, so we just have to hope the courier arrives before they leave. The tale of the television is a little more complex – the original one developed faults very quickly, and the replacement has been delayed by a few days and a lack of communication from the ebayer. I haven’t forgotten about the HTC TyTn II (Kaiser) radio car mount or Jimi wallet reviews – I need to collate my thoughts and check the photos John kindly took.
