So here we are at that time of year where people often seem to need a few days recovering from the Christmas celebrations to prepare for New Year. Life has carried on as normal here we saw Dad a couple of times before Christmas – Nick was over here in Clydach with his girlfriend, and then returned to her Mother’s for Christmas Day itself. The first time, I believe, he hasn’t been with us. We had a great day despite his absence, with the usual leisurely pace being taken. Dessert was finished by evening though, so compared to years gone past, we did well. I hope to add a few more photos to the blog later, as John has been taking some shots of us in his studio. Other than that, yes I still owe you readers a Jimi wallet and phone holder review. (Short version is the Jimi is great, and the cradle mostly fine).

Seb Sees Clydach
I went and picked up Seb from Cirencester on Tuesday, briefly meeting up with Con as well, who had to work sadly. Anyway, we’ve not managed to go out and see a great deal of the lovely countryside around here, but then again we rarely did that sort of thing back in Glos. anyway, so no change 🙂 We also managed to miss Con’s set online, but we’re hoping we can download it from the site. I’ll try and remember to post back here with the links when we find them. For our friends who haven’t met Seb, or visitors to this site who don’t know me, here is a quick pic grabbed from facebook (one of his other brothers was getting married that day).
I’ll try and find a more natural looking of him soon 🙂

Back In Britain
OK, so we have actually been back in Britain for five days now, but sorting out things and settling down is bound to take a while. In the mean time, the blog managed to publish a post for Alex on her birthday 🙂
All is OK here in Clydach, and I’ll try and post a little more regularly soon; if you have already read this post, why not click on one of the category or tag links on the right to be taken to posts you may be interested in. To friends in Cheltenham, I’ll be around next week so look forward to seeing some of you.

198 Hours To Go
Yes, just 11,800 minutes, (assuming I manage to publish this post within ten minutes of starting it, that is), until our plane is due to take off and fly the first leg of our trip back to Clydach. We are going via Kaliningrad because of KD Avia’s wonderful reputation for supreme meals, friendly staff and high efficiency they were close to 50% cheaper that the normal routes!
From there it is on to Gatwick, then John is scooping us up and driving us back to sunny Wales where we can relax, catch up with Mum and Lolik can meet her grandma for the first time 🙂
We’re hoping to go and see Dad and our friends in Gloucestershire sometime the next week, but no definite timetable just yet. As we will be away for six months, we have had to think a lot more about what to pack, and arrange for the kittens and flat to be looked after whilst we are away.
The fact that we will be returning with one extra person (unless the ultrasounds missed out on a twin 🙂 ), means that we need to try and leave space (and weight allowances) for all the related clothes, necessities and presents in the suitcases.

Plenitude of Past Pictures
I finally got around to transferring the photos from Ira’s camera onto my PC this evening. So you should expect some shots of… DaveG’s party, a few cute shots of Kara and Muska hugging, a couple of visits to the Irish pub (including one when they were had a competition where you could win prizes if you ordered pints of Kilkenny), and some more recent shots of Tishka’s kittens. I also have a lot of news-related posts I need to make, as I want to try and clear down the backlog before we move back to Clydach in a week or so.
(Yes I realise that ‘plethora’ tends to have negative overtones when people read it, but you try thinking of a word beginning with P that means lots of or a bug bunch 🙂 )
[edit]
OK, I gave up and used an online thesaurus in the end. I turned down plenty and pack in favour of plenitude…

The End Of A8?
OK, so perhaps the title is a little over dramatic, as I’m not aware that the dance club is going to close, but with our upcoming return to Clydach, there are not many weekends left to go before popping into A8 will become just a little impractical. The famous barman will be missed, both for his friendly attitude and flamboyant drink making moves. To those that stay here, I hope you continue to enjoy yourself, and to anyone reading this who hasn’t yet been, I can heartily recommend the venue.

Thanks To Gavin
Why? For bringing the following video to my attention…
I have a slight liking for a lot of a cappella songs, and anything based on Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire” obviously has a good start 🙂
I browed through my hard drive’s MP3 collection after watching this, and appear to have mis-laid my Flying Pickets albums, so I’ll try and track down the originals again next time I’m in Clydach. Rather than talk about all the fuss over one of the photos used in The Richter Scales’ “Here Comes Another Bubble”, just click on the link provided in the More Info section if you want to find out one side to the story.

Almost Gone
We will be leaving for the airport in the next hour, and things appear to be sorted in time. Everything has been packed, I think I’ve replied to all outstanding e-mails, and this blog has two or three posts scheduled to be published each day we are away. We are in Amsterdam from 19th – 24th April, then on to Clydach until the 28th/29th April. From there, we go to Cheltenham and Evesham until 1st/2nd May, then back to Clydach for my cousin’s wedding, finally returning to Kazakhstan on the 5th May.
I hope everyone is OK, and that we’ll be seeing some of you soon 🙂

Have You Visited John’s New Blog Yet?
Next time we get over to Swansea (well Clydach to be precise), I need to run through a few processes with John, to do with his new blog. He originally had one hosted with wordpress.com, but decided to buy a domain name and have the extra freedom (and headaches 😉 ) that having his own server to host the files would entail. So, if you’ve not yet made it over to Celt Photographic yet, take a moment to check it out. Although some sections are still work in progress, the main change is that the front page will be an area to display his photographs, although the actual blog posts (which apparently will improve in their frequency) are still accessible. We also have a coppermine photo gallery to play with on a related domain, but as I’ve not delved into that before, I’ll wait until we’re sat in the same room – some things are just more easily done in the ‘real’ world.

All Is Well
Please excuse the lack of posting… We arrived fine, had Christmas, mum and John got married, the in-laws went back to Kazakhstan, and we’ve just had New Year.
Tomorrow we head to Dads, and see some friends around Cheltenham, moving onto Matt & Ira G’s place, finally returning mum’s car to Clydach, then trapsing down to Heathrow.
Will try and post more info later, depending on internet connection availability and my soberness…
