Street View Not Proceeding In The UK?

Category: In The MediaChrisM @ 4:21 am

See this article for a more detailed explanation, but the short version is that Google’s Street View service will soon be available in Britain. The cars have already been out in some cities taking photos, however a small bump in the road has appeared, with objections to peoples’ faces being displayed without their express permission. Although this was not a problem in America, Canada and the UK have both stated that their laws do not allow for this sort of service; Google has offered to use automatic face-blurring technology, though this could lead to an overall degradation of all photos displayed. I use Google Earth quite a lot, and would have been interested in the way some towns would have looked, but I can also see why some people feel this is not a good thing to allow.

Further IMPROVement

Category: VideosChrisM @ 7:45 pm

Following on from the earlier post, we have some more videos connected with ImprovEverywhere.

First we have another pre-arranged freeze, over at Waterloo Station (London). I could be wrong, but I think the British ones were organized via a Facebook group. I had a quick look and couldn’t find one for Kazakhstan yet. Can’t imagine there being many takers here, and flash mobs may not go down to well with the authorities…

Something a little different here – “Look Up More” – this is the extended version of the video, showing the arrangements and co-ordination planning before hand, intermixed with the final result. A lot of effort seems to have gone into this piece of performance art…

Finally, to ensure no claims of favouritism can be made, we have a ‘freeze’ video, taken from Canada’s CNBC news program, with a report on the shopping mall freeze.
