Anna Needing A Login Soon?
Earlier in the week, Yesterday, Recently, Anna has been a little less random with her keyboard attacks, and so when she wanted to get on the chair next to the computer desk, I was less reluctant than in previous months. (To be fair to her, this desk is normally packed full of interesting looking cables and gadgets, and so her curiosity and urge to grab everything is only natural. I can say that calmly when she isn’t trying to throw around a few Terabytes of backups 🙂 Anyway, I grabbed a quick shot of Anna typing out her thoughts, and you can find it at the end of this post.
Oh, and it looks as though problems with pictures from tweets weren’t just limited to the WiFi at G n’R bar last week. I don’t know whether the problem lies with twitpic’s server, the PockeTwit app I use on my phone, or local DNS problems effecting both GPRS and ADSL connections, but the inability to upload had remained. I’ve temporarily switched to using yfrog’s services for now – we’ll see how that goes.

Uggh, not good quality with the video, sorry.
This is one of the more sedate rides at Babylon Park in Mega, Astana. It rotates very slowly, so Anna tried to get out a few times, however it goes up and down unlike the other rides. The trampolining video seems to have been lost somehow, I’ll try and remember to record another one next time.

Easter Breads
The 4th of April was around Easter this year (I’m assuming that is Russian Orthodox’s date for Easter, as they still use the Julian calendar for (movable?) feast days). Anyway, it was definitely the 4th of April using the Gregorian calendar, and Anna seemed to like the day, especially when she had her very own iced Easter bread to herself. As you can tell from the photos (caviar anyone? 🙂 ), we were over at Irina’s parents’ house, and although not religious, they do celebrate Russian Christmas and Easter each year. I think that in years past people would hand decorate boiled eggs, but here they are in pretty plastic covers that I’m assuming save a lot of preparation time, meaning more Easter iced bread could be made. I know which I prefer!

Anna Clapping With The Dancers
The first of these two videos (featuring Latin/Mardi Gras style dancers) has a brief appearance from Anna in it, hence this post just making it into the Anna’s Videos category. I just wanted to give a quick explanation in case you are watching these clips whilst visiting Anna Merriman‘s site – there is a reason for the scantily dressed women appearing on her site 🙂
As you’ll remember from the recent “Aunty Gulya’s Grandson’s Birthday” post, the 3rd of April saw all three of us attending the Duman hotel for a small boy’s birthday party. He and his friends had a magician in another room, whilst the adult guests were presented with the following. I’m not certain, but I think if you check the April archives on this site, you may find a clip or two of the magician?
This second clip features a Turkish belly dancer entertaining everyone, and proving that her percussion was strong enough to stand on!

Aunty Gulya’s Grandson’s Birthday
On the 3rd of April, we had been invited to attend a boy’s birthday being at the Duman hotel, just over the road from us. The celebrations were pretty extravagant, as you’ll see when I post the videos from that day, but he seemed happy enough, and it was interesting to see how kids’ parties differ across the world. Whilst we did have exotic dancers, the kids playing in the corridor outside had a magician to keep them occupied.

Anna Tidying Up
The 30th of March saw all three of us back in Kazakhstan already, and here you can see Anna hard at work helping to tidy up the in-laws’ living room. To be fair, despite her love of shiny things that make noises, she hasn’t yet damaged a mobile phone (that we have noticed at least), and tries to pass us the telephone if it is ringing. Using speakerphone mode normally results in Anna sitting and listening attentively to the person at the other end of the line, or her wandering around the room chattering away to the person on the phone. However, this familiarity with telecommunication devices does have drawbacks – yesterday I found one of our cordless phones still connected to a call (well error tone in this case) nearly two hours after had snuck off and dialled some numbers on it.
