Long Hair And T-Shirts

Back on the 16th of April (a few days before my birthday) we all popped over to the Agnew’s residence, as we don’t get a lot of opportunities to catch up with each others’ news. I forgot to ask if it was OK to publish photos of our friends, so you will have to make do with just a photo of Anna and me. She is proudly wearing her “I love Wales” t-shirt, and by the looks of it, about to make a grab for something she isn’t supposed to. You may remember that last Christmas we spent Christmas Day at the Agnews, and had a great time; this year however, we will be spending Christmas and New Year back in Britain, and giving our friends a bit of piece and quiet 🙂 Looking back at these pictures, I’m still surprised at just how much Anna’s hair has grown in such a short amount of time!

Leg Stretching

After a long time sat in her pushchair (we were visiting the Mega Shopping centre near us on the 12th of April earlier this year), Anna had an opportunity to stretch her legs and have a walk around. Unfortunately the camera wasn’t zoomed in at all (and it is fixed once you start recording a video), but at least you get a glimpse of what the area looks like. Pretty soon we’ll be moving back into the sort of weather we had back in April, with colder temperatures and some snow. Last I heard, minus 25 degrees Celsius was forecast for the later parts of November. Another month or two could see it drop further again.
You can also hear the music that Mega play outside. There has been a lot of studies on the effects of music, smell and shop layout, when it comes to increasing how much people buy, however given the choice of tunes they sometimes play, I don’t think that part of the theory has made it over here just yet.

Nope, they are indeed autoplaying any embedded videos right now. I’ve left a comment asking if it can altered. For now, I’ll hide the video of Anna on the way to playgroup from the front page – you’ll need to click the (0) link to see the post on its own, which will then allow the video to play. (Asides to don’t display the read more link I’m using. Oh, the video is cut off before we arrived at the playgroup, as the teacher was ill and cancelled the session.

No Subs Yet

However, here is the video I mentioned earlier in the week. I’ll see if we can get some sort of translation done by the weekend, but the basic idea is a discussion on whether black cats are lucky or unlucky. I’d personally be more inclined to say they are just cats. If you push me on the point, I’d agree some are black. However as the journalist was a friend, and she needed a foreigner to give her a nice quote on some interesting good luck omens we apparently have back in Britain, I was happy to oblige 🙂
You’ll see Karra and Muska in there, as well as Anna enjoying playing with the cats’ toy.

Discs, Stairs And A Phone

This is the second batch of videos from the 11th of April (new visitors note that I don’t have an OCD issue with stating the date for all of Anna’s photo and video posts, I just want to make sure that we have the date recorded somewhere, and I don’t always remember to include it in the YouTube description).

The first clip is of Anna finding motivation to climb the stairs in the form of Dedushka’s mobile phone


Here we have Anna attempting to split apart the stacking pots (to be fair they are quite difficult even for adults to open up) and eventually giving up and returning to her favourite type of toy – gadgets 🙂


There was a time when Anna didn’t know where the eject button was on all gadgets within her reach. Sadly that time has passed. We still need to work on her disc handling skills (fingerprints all over the shiny side mean they sometimes won’t play properly), however she knows how to clean them with a quick breath over them and wiping on her t-shirt. This works a lot better when she isn’t cleaning the label side 🙂


The final clip from that day is Anna deciding not climb the little flight of stairs this time.

Living Room Investigations

The 11th of April saw us back at Ira’s parents’ house again, and the first video is of Anna once again terrorising a poor defenceless stuffed animal. However, when she saw that Babushka had a shiny thing with lights on it, the dog was abandoned with haste…



Upon being told that the camera wasn’t a toy, Anna decided to protest by changing channels on the TV…


And then trying another attempt at camera grabbing.


It is strange to look at these videos from just seven months ago and realise how much Anna has changed, both in terms of her face & body, and her increased confidence in walking around.

Here we have Anna demonstrating her contempt for society’s accepted norms for conventionally enjoying a seated position.
Or she could just be sitting on her polar bear stuffed toy.
The choice is yours… Either way, the photo was taken on the 8th of April back here at our flat. You can just make out one of Anna’s dolls trying to escape from the toy box, and the empty DVD spindles that were put there to keep her away from the real disc wallets behind 🙂 It is hard to believe her feet used to fit in the shoes on the floor there! (They are both from different pairs btw, we didn’t used to make her walk around with different colour shoes on 🙂 ).

Easter Bread For Anna

I don’t normally post such short videos, but I just love the look of joy in Anna’s eyes as she realises no one is going to stop her from grabbing the Easter bread (I think the hand swooping in at the end is just to stop the food from going on the floor). Not much else to add – the video was shot on the 4th of April 2010, the same day as the photos of the Easter bread that were posted earlier. I’m hoping to post up a few more pictures and
videos of Anna, if not tonight then tomorrow.
