We moved back to Cocos Outback Steakhouse (need to check name later), where we have Alex once more, deciding which delicacy to go for… (kangaroo burger was one of the touristy delicacies on offer in the menu. More importantly, they allowed schmoking with your meal, though if they were busy, they preferred you to use the side room. Fair enough.)
Not related to the aforementioned grub, here is that establishment’s toilet taste proudly on display.

Next we have me in Barneys (Alex if you’re reading this, can you remember which of the Barneys establishments this was? I still can’t find my notebook from that trip) and then Chris reminding me that I was supposed to pixel out his face for online versions of photos.
Alex bought some items from this stall, on the way to grabbing some food, and I think she managed to barter the price down a little on condition we told our friends about her. OK, so its a little late to meet our end of the bargain, but here is her stock and her card
I’ll include a map showing locations of the coffeeshop and stall when I can remember/be prompted where the hell they were. Oh, and some of these photos may well be taken by Alex. Can’t remember which are which, sorry.

This is the last of the Amsterdam Trip 2007 photos featuring the flat. Why so many? Because somehow I forgot to take a lot of the city itself and the various coffeeshops we went into. The 2008 trip with Irina was a little more successful in terms of encompassing more of a feel for the city through the medium of photography.
The next three are the view out the window onto the street and river below.

More of the flat in Amsterdam…
Here we had just started to unpack the essentials…
The 1st flight of three or four steep stairs leading to exit to the flat
The last flight, leading up into the living room. (Seriously, if you have a bad back or dislike navigating precarious situations when drunk or severely relaxed, I’d not recommend taking this flat, as it occupies the top two floors of the building.

Decided this post didn’t quite belong in the Anna’s Photos category – although she is sort of included in the shot 🙂
There are a couple of other pictures I want to post before returning to ‘proper’ Anna photos, which should be catching up to real time over the next fortnight or so. The Amsterdam 2007 series of posts should also be completed soon.
This particular shot was taken by John in his studio, but I don’t think he is using this one in his book, so I’ve uploaded it here.

So, continuing the series of Amsterdam 2007 photos, here is the next batch…
We took a few snapshots of the apartment itself. Not exactly in tip top condition – fridge door disconnected from the cupboard door, broken slats on the camp beds, TV not working properly, but it was cheap, relatively clean, and central to the coffeeshops we were interested in.

OK, the 2008 Amsterdam picture series was started back on 10th February this year, just 11 days before Anna was born. Here, finally are the 2007 photos, from my previous trip to Amsterdam. This time Irina did not come, but AlexC and ChrisD met up with me there, and we shared an apartment for four days (21/9/2007 – 24/9/2007).
I’ve checked Lemming was fine with his mug up in public in the 2008 series of pictures, and I’ve blurred anyone else who looked like they might want it. Though in these 2007 pictures, I’m only aware of one person from the forums being involved.
21st April
Stix near our apartment. 1st visit I think of the trip. We have our friend Chris on the left, AlexC on the right, me hiding behind, and a random local behind:) I’ve checked, and any photos presented on the front page, as opposed to behind a ‘click here to read more’ type link, will not be displaying any Dutch herbs, as I don’t want to put off advertisers.
The two below are the scene outside the entrance to our apartment. It belonged to Hotel Amstelzicht, just down the road. Yes, I got a bit distracted in Photoshop when I returned, and had a go at making these two shots a little different to the normal point’n’click affairs presented on this blog.
Right, thats your lot for now, I’ve no idea whether these posts will total a series of 13 again, I need to try and keep load times down on the front page for this blog, as Bluehost seem to be having another go-slow on my server 🙁

So, this is the last of the Amsterdam 2008 photos, with the 2007 batch to come sometime in the future.

A shot of a tram, I think taken on the way back to the train station to leave 🙁
A split level train, used on heavy traffic routes I imagine. Probably doesn’t look too unusual to American readers, but all our UK trains are single deck, so this catches your eye the first time you use one.

The Greenery In Holland
arrrrrrrrrrrrgh, lost all the text I originally entered for this post during the downtime my sites had. Will try and remember what I was thinking about roughly…

1) Shot out the window of the bus to Keukenhof (having changed forms of transport at Leiden, with a stop off to Double A, a coffeeshop a little off the beaten track. Tulip fields abound in this area. May well do a separate post for Keukenhof itself, these photos are all from a collection I posted at a couple of Amsterdam Coffeeshop forums a while back.
Here we have a pretty water fountain/sculpture at the entrance to the gardens.
A shot of a man playing with his organ in Holland. Wonder if that will get me any search engine based traffic 😉
