Nothing like TGI Friday’s Normal Atmosphere

Category: PersonalChrisM @ 6:07 pm

At Kiev Airport’s TGI Friday. Ordered Ultimate Mudslide cocktail (hey it is past 5pm somewhere in the world!), deep fried Mozerella (calories/fat don’t count in airports!) & brownie dessert. Customer service bad compared to Astana’s branch! Avoiding eye contact when waiting to place an order, drinks served in random order with some waiting a long time whilst new customers served very quickly. If this was a random restaurant in Kazakhstan I’d not be so surprised. Cocktail & cheese thingies arrived. Tasty. Waitress now talking to us at least.

I do have to say that the Friday’s in Moscow airport was just like the US. This was before the one in Astana opened. Considering that that was the first Friday’s I had been in since going behind the Iron Curtain, and considering I was in Domodedovo, it was so weird to have a waitress lean down, smile and say, “Hey, How are you? I’m Nastya!”

Still not used to it, even back in the States, to be honest.

If you removed the TGI branding, the service wasn’t too surprising, I’d just assumed that they would really emphasize their image when in new(ish) markets.
