Today is a good day, at least so far…
I had the stitches removed from where the dentist had removed a tooth, and there were no needles or pliers involved this time, so I was a happy bunny.
Upon returning home, I noticed an update was available from the Alsat forum that enabled our satellite receiver to display the movie channels. After feeding the kittens, I went to wash my hands, and amazingly our hot water has been turned back on again; after two weeks of cold showers, I am really looking forward to a nice long relaxing rinse π

What has happened to the hot water? AFAIR for 10 years in Astana there were no hot water outages.
In contrast to Moscow. π

That sounds like heaven to me: the conclusion of a very nasty ordeal, a good movie and a hot shower (when your not used to it). How the hell did you cope with no hot water for two weeks? I know it’s supposed to be warm over there but still.
And it makes me laugh that you still call the kittens, the kittens. They were boisterous teenagers when I met them nearly a year ago, lol, bless their little cotton socks π

>>Oleg – https://chrismerriman.com/from-boiling-to-freezing/ – No, not an Astana-wide issue, it was simply that other residents in this area hadn’t been paying their bills, so our boiler had no fuel. Sorry for delay in this reply, for some reason, I wasn’t e-mailed when your comment went up…
>>Alex – I coped by getting wet in the cold water, then turning it off, soaping & shampooing up, then turning water back on and rinsing off the lather. And yes, I know the kittens are more like cats now, but it is just automatic in my head to label them kittens still π

2Chris:
Crazy. Itβs crazy, like it was in the nineties, when there were cutoffs and so-called rolling blackouts.
And in Moscow, as you may know, there is a three week hot water cutoff, when the infrastructure is claimed to be repaired. Unbearable.

They had a bit on the news about protests in the Ukraine, IIRC. Mainly female students bouncing around in a fountain, splashing water on each other. Least it isn’t all bad π
