Just a quick note. While in the US we now have an unofficial rule that Christmas decorations don’t go up until after Thanksgiving and that stores don’t sell Christmasy things–trees, ornaments, Santa Claus hats–in Kazakhstan, the New Years decorations are already going up and the stores are full of ornaments and wreaths and costumes. And New Years comes a week after Christmas. So there’s an extra two weeks of this stuff. As an American, at any rate, that’s crazy! It’s too early. We haven’t even had Independence Day yet! But maybe it’s just me.
