As I recently mentioned here, there is some sort of meeting going on across the road. I spoke to Ira, and she believes it may be related to a children’s conference going on today.
If you look on the left, you can see a poster featuring our beloved President. The area the crowd is in, is one of the entrances to Astana Park, which has a lot of cafes in open in the summer, fairground rides, and eventually leads down to the River Ishim.
I’ll come back and update with more information, as I receive it.

Yeah, what was that all about? I heard that Friday was a special children’s day.
When I ran through the park on Saturday I thought it was for the big Astana birthday celebration. They are also doing a lot of work on the facades of buildings on Respublika for the same reason.
Let us know if you find anything out.

Ah, could well be then. (Astana birthday)
Apparently the actual childrens conference was over at the pyramid.
Do I know you Paul, or are you a new reader to this blog? I don’t recall your name, though my memory isn’t too great, so apologies if we’ve been introduced previously.

Spoke to my wife, the celebration of Astana becoming Kazakhstan’s capital city used to be held on the 10th June, but last year was moved to 6/7th July. Not sure what they are doing this year…
We noticed the building work going on when we went over to the Chelsea pub last week – I was shocked to find some areas were even taped off to keep pedestrians safe!

Yes, I heard the date will be around the same time again this year. So they have time to finish the work there, plus maybe even that new bridge crossing the river.
Chris, I’ve been reading your blog for a few months off and on – it’s just the first time I’ve commented. Keep up the good work!

Ah good to know I’m not just talking to myself on here 🙂
In case you hadn’t noticed, I’ve started making sponsored posts the last couple of months – just skip anything under the category of ‘Interesting’ if you want the more personal stuff…
