Less Than 7 Days

Category: Friends,PersonalChrisM @ 4:31 pm

Chris Denman will be over here in just under a week. The weather has improved slightly, though not a great deal. (Don’t forget to check the weather forecasts to the right).

Just ordered a 320 Gig Seagate drive for Chris to take over for me – he has very kindly been downloading stuff for me, and I need somewhere to store it…

Change Of Appearance

Category: Friends,PersonalChrisM @ 5:23 am

As you may have noticed (if not, check if SpecSavers are doing any deals ;>), the look of this site has changed somewhat. The content is the same, with a few minor tweaks here and there. Thanks to ChrisD for spotting a few issues with the old theme.

Hopefully all sorted now, and I think I’ve found a work around for some problems I’m experiencing with the most recent batch of web-sites – Matt helped out again, and we found a way to bodge our way past some technical issues.

Thats all for now – it is 5.20am here, and I need some sleep :>

OK, Back To The Planned Blog

Category: Friends,Kazakhstan,PersonalChrisM @ 1:03 am

It is Sunday, and we’ve just waved Natalya & Oleg (a different Oleg to the one previously mentioned on this site) off. They visited for a long weekend, to do some business and to say hello to some of Astana’s inhabitants. They stayed with us, and when not working, we went out for a few drinks.

We haven’t seen her for a few years, and it was good to catch up. It was also good to meet her friends. We played billiards, which I’ve not done for 5 years. If you’ve never seen it in person, imagine a snooker table with smaller pockets and the cushions have a square angle at the pocket, not bevelled.

Now imagine the balls being almost too big to fit in the pockets, and you start to see the way the game differs from pool and snooker. Luckily we played American Billiards, not the Russian version, which means you can use any of the balls still in play as a cue ball, and any ball can be pocketed, as long as it makes contact with at least one other ball. After a few vodkas, I managed to down a few of the balls.
Losha, Igor and his wife came round in the evening, which was cool, as we haven’t seen them in a few weeks. Lorsha is interested in PCs, and his English is really quite good.

Introduction

Category: Friends,KazakhstanChrisM @ 2:12 pm

OK, this category has been set aside for any friends & family who are thinking about coming over to visit us here in Kazakhstan some time.

Feel free to check out the other posts, which are about my business sites. Right now, SkyDiving-News.org is the only one I’ve created myself, but there will hopefully be more to come in the next few weeks. I want to say a BIG thank you to MattG for all his help so far. He has made some excellent videos to guide me through the processes required to setup the sites, and all the other technical gubbins therein associated, and also spent a lot of time replying to my badly formed e-mails requesting more details.
Please feel free to leave comments or requests for more info here. If I don’t get back to you quickly enough, try e-mailing me. (Please don’t forget this area isn’t private, anyone on the net will be able to read it ;> )

To those already committed to coming (Mum&John, closely followed by ChrisD) , a BIG BIG thank you, I still have a huge dopey grin on my face just thinking about you coming over.
