It happened a few hours ago now. I heard a squeal of tyres and a loud bang. Looked out the window, and it looks like someone’s nice new powerful car either slammed into a flatbed or a cement mixer.
I’m just really glad our block of flats doesn’t face directly on to the road itself…
The photos aren’t too clear, as I didn’t want to attract attention by turning the flash on, so had to decrease the shutter speed quite a lot. I’ll get a mini-tripod sometime…

Chris, just a tip for your inevitable fascination with car crashes outside your window – photo shops (here at least) manufacture a small “bean bag” type of thing for nature photographers. A small bag of beans would do. Place it on your balcony rail and rest the camera on it. It takes away all the handshake. Another thing people do quite commonly is to breath out as they are taking a photo. Stop breathing! At least for the time you are taking the shot. If you can, set the camera to aperture priority, and open it up to one stop below its maximum. Speed will then be dictated by ambient light. In the case of the drivers fighting – get within three metres, use flash – then run like fuck !
