Does Kaz.kz only search the .KZ domain? If so, why is it better than Google or yahoo or some other search engine that searches all domains?

thanks for making me aware of kaz.kz, as I’m currently doing one or two web sites for local companies and organisations here I should be ! From looking at the ‘about project’ page it says that it covers the Kazakhstan area AND kz domain but as mentioned is seems to be only KZ domain names. As for it working better than Google etc, if you mean that it covers KZ based domain name sites/ Russian language sites better, I think probably due to the fact that Google is still predominantly focussed on Engish language and pages whereas mail.ru/ Yandex algorithms etc (and probably kaz.kz) seem to be much more geared up to deal with the different sematics and nuances of cyrilic and Russian (although I’m sure Google has many teams working to change this situation !)
Google does pretty well, but I actually have been disappointed with my use of Yandex. Last time I used it which was years ago, it couldn’t/didn’t equate the same word with different endings. So if I wanted to find a map of Astana, I had to search for:
карта Астаны and карту Астаны and карта Астана and карту Астана
because it didn’t see that карта and карту were the same word. Of course Google drives me crazy by searching for equivalents too much. So hopefully kaz.kz will strike a balance.
I’ll definitely start using kaz.kz a lot more for some local searches. Will be interesting to see how it evolves. As for the word ending issue you mentioned, this is probably a good example as to why Rusisian search engines need to work a lot differently because of the complexity of the grammar. re: Yandex, I heard recently that the mail.ru search engine now has a much higher share than Yandex, i.e Yandex is on its way down and mail.ru on its way up, although all could change of course.
