Dear Kazakhstan Olympic Commitee
I went to your website to find out more information about Kazakh athletes. I hoped to find some interesting facts about them so I could write about them on my blog. I wanted to try to get an idea of who the stars were and generate some interest about Kazakhstan Winter Olympians in the world. Increase Kazakhstan’s brand image, as people in Astana like to say.
And what did I find?
The profile stolen from the official vancouver site. You even left in the text-link saying “Visit the Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan”! Which is really confusing! And for most of the profiles, it’s really boring because all we have here is name, height, weight and date of birth.
If you want to generate interest in Kazakhstan, you have to provide information. I would think that you, the Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan would know more about your athletes than the Canadians. Also the laziness shown in putting together that website does not bode well for the Asian Games 2011. Will I be able to get any information about the games at all online? Will infrastructure needs be well thought out or just thrown together or copied from someone else?
In short, Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan, I am offering my services for the Asian Games or the Summer Olympics 2014 to profile (and photograph) your athletes for your websites. I guarantee you I can get people way more interested in our team than these brief bios with their dates of birth and heights?
