Karim Massimov: Prime Minister, Blogger
Although they say Barack Obama may be the first President to keep a blog, Karim Massimov may be the world’s first Prime Minister to blog. Massimov’s blog is on the government.kz domain and appears to use BlogEngine, an open-source blogging software. That’s a good sign that the PM, or his advisers, are pretty hip to Web 2.0.
While the content of the blog is sparse at the moment, there is a video interview with the PM, a New Years message, a video of a recent speech and a welcome message. Already, the Приветствие has gotten 77 comments and the comments are pretty varied. Some congratulate the second most powerful person in Kazakhstan, some discuss the issue of the PM’s blog being written in Russian, and others ask about Internet development in Kazakhstan. It would appear that comments are not being monitored so feel free to join in the dialogue.
