Leader of the Nation Law Passed
As predicted, the Leader of the Nation law entered into force [RUS] quietly this morning. Interestingly, the Kazakhstan Today article as republished on zona.kz spends a lot of time defending the legality of the law, noting that everyone who should have signed it, did in fact sign it. Except the President. The article goes on to quote extensively Nazarbayev’s earlier speech on this law, and why he refused to sign it. However, by refusing to reject it, he has essentially allowed it to passively enter into force.
What do you readers think of this law and the method of its passing?
