Tree Surgery

Category: VideosChrisM @ 11:21 pm

As you may remember from her recent blog post, Alex is no longer working outdoors, as a tree surgeon. However, as Mat still is, I thought he might like to see how some South Africans remove trees they don’t want any more.

You have to ask why nobody tried to stop them from doing it, but as it was only the truck that got damaged, there is no harm in laughing at what was almost an attempt to get nominated for a Darwin award…

Doh, I must have missed this one. Hilarious! And it looks like it’s a nasty evil Phoenix Palm that they are pulling over – not something I would want landing on me though they seem to have got rid of most of the fronds.
Phoenix Palms are fairly common here in Australia and a tree surgeons nightmare. The base of the fronds are lined with very long, very sharp, very easy to prick yourself on spines! When you do get caught on one the spine normally snaps leaving an embedded section in your skin which you generally don’t realise is there until maybe a month later when it works it way out in a pussy blob and suddenly the pain you were getting in that area disappears! They are supposed to be poisonous as well so can lead to nasty infections, that’s due to the possum piss apparently as possums like to live in them!
All in all, delightful trees 🙂

    Possum piss. There’s a phrase I didn’t think I’d see on this blog 🙂
