The Hallowed Hunt – Lois McMaster Bujold

The final book in the Chalion series, this one strongly reminds me of the ‘A Song Ice and Fire’ series of books. (Their reviews will be published here in the future.)
This story revolves around an accused woman, and the man charged with transporting her, as a prisoner, towards her punishment.

Don’t you think the first Chalion book was much better than the two others? The Curse of Chalion was just astonishing to me, and The Paladin of Sould and The Hallowed Hunt seemed flat and uninteresting. Just as The Song of Ice and Fire you have mentioned: long and empty.

I read them one after the other, so they sort of merged into one long book in my head. I can see what you mean, but if you liked the first of the series, I’d still reckon it is worth reading the others.

btw To other readers of this blog, Oleg is the reason these reviews exist – when I moved over to Kazakhstan, he supplied the books in digital format. (I do of course own all the originals back in the UK, to any copyright righteous people).
