Fat Suitcases

Category: PersonalChrisM @ 1:13 am

It now looks as though Irina may manage to fit all the clothes etc. into one suitcase, rather than two. We will have more items coming back from Britain, but once we are actually there, we will know how much extra capacity we need, and can buy a new holdall/suitcase over there. 40kg for two people and a baby sounds like a decent amount, allowing for six weeks away from home, but by the time you allow for presents, new clothes for Anna, the weight of the suitcase (around 5kg) etc., it starts to dwindle very quickly. I’ve sometimes wondered whether airlines would take any notice of dieting at check in time… Arriving in this country I weighed x Kg, I’ve since lost 5Kg, so surely I’m allowed an extra five kilos in my luggage? Sadly this probably won’t hold much water with them, but it might be worth a try if we ever get really desperate. Just need to lose the weight whilst enjoying all the junk food I’ve missed from home in the last nine months!

Take Cover…

Category: Anna's PhotosChrisM @ 12:55 am

Or at least wear something that hides stains really well the next time you are around Anna when she is about to enjoy some pasta and sauce. Regular readers will remember the previous photos of Anna’s mildly inaccurate food placement photos before, but I really think this one catches the moment pretty well. Namely her happiness with having sauce, pasta and meat to eat by hand, without silly Mum or Dad slowing her down, the wide area which such food normally leaves its mark, and also further proof that, despite Anna’s occasional very vocal protests, she really does still need to wear a bib when eating some foods πŸ™‚

Do NOT Get In Between This Cutie And Her Pasta!

Oh, the photo was shot on the 10th of January. Another four or five posts and we’ll have once more caught up to real time posting of Anna’s pictures. I’ll wait a few days though, as the last 1/2 week’s posts take up the entire front page, and I know some friends and family don’t always get around to clicking the Previous Entries link to check out the second page.

Fancy Footwork

Category: Anna's PhotosChrisM @ 9:47 pm

The 5th of January for some reason saw a quite late tea-time for Anna. She is still at the age when human babies (apparently) don’t discern as much between using their feet instead of their hands for manipulation objects (or humans πŸ™‚ ) around them, compared to older children and adults. This means that if she wants to grab our attention, or stop the spoon of food from approaching her mouth, she sometimes just nudges her feet into our feeding arm. Cute right now, as long as it doesn’t progress into full on kicking when she doesn’t get her way πŸ˜‰

Nayelsa, Nayelsa!

Category: Anna's Photos,FriendsChrisM @ 4:58 pm

As promised, this post marks the first 2010 photos of Anna. The 3rd of January saw us still at Irina’s parents’ house, with Igor, Losha and Katya popping round to continue the New Years celebrations.

Oh, and “nayelsa” is a Russian informal word for “I’m full”. (Please no more food. Yes it is delicious, yes I love it, but seriously, my belt doesn’t have any more holes to make it bigger). Or something like that πŸ™‚

Christmas Day Meal

Category: Anna's Photos,FriendsChrisM @ 11:57 pm

After saying goodbye to Walton we relaxed for a few hours at home with Anna, and then travelled over to JohnA’s for a delicious Christmas Day meal. This was the first year I wasn’t at home in Britain for Christmas with Mum et al, so I was really glad to be in a friendly and happy atmosphere with Anna and Irina. DanD and his family were there, as well as Innessa’s parents, which meant I wasn’t alone in toasting the day with vodka and beer, rather than wine πŸ™‚ The food was great, and we even had some entertainment laid on – you’ll need to wait for the video to catch a clip of that…

Two Spoon Anna

Category: Anna's PhotosChrisM @ 9:03 am

The WordPress image upload gallery function is playing up once more, but this time waiting around doesn’t seem to have magically re-attached these images to a post, so back to individual posting again.

Anyway, the evening of the 15th of December saw Oleg arrive, and before he got to ours, Anna had her evening meal. She has now started occasionally feeding herself with a spoon (though obviously prefers fingers), and that meal time decided that one spoon was not sufficient to transport the food πŸ™‚

Sleighs And Borsch

Category: Anna's PhotosChrisM @ 5:39 pm

Wow, just noticed that the picture gallery problems I’ve had with WordPress for months aren’t as bad as I thought – it appears that if I just wait a few extra minutes, the photos are actually properly linked to the post involved. Anyway, here we have Irina and Anna enjoying some fresh air in the garden, and also Anna seeming ecstatic over more messy food fun.
Oh, and the pictures were shot on the 6th of December, just before the International Winter Bazaar.

Messy Eating Again

Category: Anna's PhotosChrisM @ 7:22 am

I’m sorry if you are bored already of seeing Anna eating food in a messy manner, but to be honest most of these Anna photo and video posts are for friends and family who want to occasionally check in on how she is doing.
If you are looking for posts on other themes, I’d recommend checking out the Topics widget in the 2nd sidebar, and clicking around. Once I’ve caught up to real-time posts of Anna’s exploits, I’ll hopefully be posting more Kazakhstan/Astana and weird news items once again.
Anyway, back to this post… the 29th of November saw Anna once more eating a borsch-like meal with her hands, as being spoon fed is apparently just so passΓ© already!

Finger Food Fun

Category: Anna's PhotosChrisM @ 3:50 pm

Anna had already decided by the 18th of November that being spoon fed all her food was not the way to go, and that food should usually be manually inspected before being allowed past her lips. She has purΓ©es less often now, and quite often has what we are eating, if there is no salt or sugar added, or high in the ingredient list of the original parts of the meal.

Before Cleaning, Mess Must Occur

Category: Anna's PhotosChrisM @ 2:45 pm

Anna’s last picture on this site was of her teeth being cleaned, this one is of the sort of mess that occurs before hand πŸ™‚
The 9th of November saw Anna thoroughly enjoying experimenting with her meal.
