Where Is Anna?

Category: Friends,PersonalChrisM @ 2:20 pm

Or more precisely, I’m guessing some relatives are wondering where the new Anna photos are. With Mum & John away in Spain still, doctor’s appointments for Anna, Pip and Con coming last weekend, ChrisD hopefully coming tomorrow, and a party in Cirencester this Saturday night, it is entirely possible you’ll need to wait until Sunday for updated photos, sorry.

In the mean time, Con is still raising money for the hungry and homeless his trip to Australia. See previous posts linking to his massive vinyl collection sell off, DJ decks auction etc. He is now clearing out his a lot of his carpentry toolbox, so should you need a jigsaw (4340FCT Top handle Jigsaw), a router (of the wood variety, not networking 🙂 (BOSCH POF1200AE)), a circular saw (Ryobi WS6613), or a Planer (Makita 1902), head on over to the e-bay auction page here. Ta.

James Blunt Sold His Sister… On E-Bay

Category: PersonalChrisM @ 11:30 pm

OK, I admit, the title for this post is pretty much link bait, but if it is good enough for the Times, it is good enough for ChrisMerriman.com 🙂
Irina noticed the article, and so I checked out the details. Apparently this story has already done the rounds once, but I did not hear of it when Blunt was promoting his first album.
James (a former British Army officer) explained that following a tragic death, his sister had to get to the Republic of Ireland (Eire) for the funeral. The ferries were not making the crossing at that time of year (the Irish sea can be quite rough in certain seasons), and there was a strike that meant planes were not making the journey either. Mr Blunt posted a plea on e-bay, and someone helped out by letting James’ sister use their helicopter. However, these is a positive ending to this story – the winning bidder is now due to marry Mr Blunt’s sister!

Got To Love That HDMI Quality

Category: Friends,Kazakhstan,PersonalChrisM @ 2:02 am

From the income generated from this blog and my other sites, I spent a little money on items from e-bay, e-buyer and a few other online stores. As most of them to not deliver to Kazakhstan (and as our postal service out here is still a little hit and miss), I had them delivered to AlexC’s house. One of the most eagerly awaited goodies was a 10 metre DVI>HDMI lead. We can now watch videos from the PC, on the TV, at the full 1920×1080 resolution, without any of the interference that using component caused.
Although the vast majority of my files are at much lower resolutions, viewing digital photos (I’ll hopefully be posting some of Alex’s a little later) is a lot better now, as we can really see the fine detail without having to zoom in.
Anyway, with that lead, and a proper null modem cable to connect to the satellite receiver (I had to bodge one together previously, which looked a little ugly, and was about 10cm to short to use since we bought the TV stand), the room is starting to look a little tidier 🙂 I can now also upload new firmwares to the satellite box when ever needed, so more channels are available day to day 🙂
