Quicker If You Do It Yourself

Whilst I am away in Amsterdam, and then Britain, it would probably be a good idea for me to setup a remote access facility for our PC back here in Astana. That way, if any problems occur, Ira can contact me, and once I find an internet cafe, or a WiFi zone to use with my PDA, I can try and sort out the issue for her directly.
My previous jobs have often included providing technical support over the telephone, but many times I wished the customer/client had some software installed that would allow me to spend 10 seconds demonstrating a required procedure, rather than explaining it for 5 minutes.

RemotePC charge as little as $4.95 a month for their services, and if you would like to ‘try before you buy’ there is even a free 30 day trial available. Check the site out, see what you think, and let me know if you already use this sort of service for anything unusual…

(If your PPP agreement disallows having such a comment, please discard it.)

I’m happy with LogMeIn.com which offers a free basic account (remote desktop, no file transfer, no remote printing). The have paid accounts as well.

I’m leaving the above comment as is, as the site’s address was not hyperlinked, and I hope that RemotePC feel that their services are up to being directly compared. Plus I know that Oleg is merely offering his honest opinion, rather than selling something :)
