I can just about remember watching ET when I was young, and seeing lots of friends with the school lunch boxes, pencil cases, beakers and pens which helped Stephen Spielberg earn so much, with what was widely acclaimed to be the first mass-marketed, merchandising-prioritised film - the products weren’t an after thought, but rather seen as an integral part of the process for film goers.
What would it be like to return to the more innocent times, like the sort of vintage fabrics you can still get these days, with non-commercialised, but entertaining and appropriate images used?
