When we watch BBC Prime via the satellite, the Antiques Roadshow pops up sometimes, so we often (obviously) see very old antiques from all over the world, which are often being used as if they were normal, functional pieces of furniture. In a house where only adults reside, and away from sharp objects, hot liquids and staining materials, this is perhaps justifiable, but in many other cases, it is a shame to see such fine craftsmanship put to waste. In a house with children, or where a PC is being used, and so a keyboard drawer makes sense, modern desks are a much better idea, IMHO.
