Google Changes Search Method

Category: In The Media,PersonalChrisM @ 11:14 pm

At least according to a BBC journalist. However, the main difference actually seems to be that the ‘Web Images News’ etc. is no longer placed above the search box, but has been moved to above the results.
Perhaps I’m being too cynical, but it seems to me that the journo simply took a Press Release at face value, and lapped up Google’s proclamations of the next iteration of their search engine results.
Decide for yourself, headover to the .com version of google, make a search and then read the article.

Google has integrated search results from different domains — images, pages, videos etc. As a programmer I can tell you that deciding is a fansite or an online mp3 store more relevant result for a “Rammstein” search query isn’t a simple task.

Ah, I did a couple of searches and didn’t see any truly integrated results, just that they’d moved the Web, Images etc. links. Thanks for the update. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t some ?=old type argument you could supplement to the search url to force old style searches, but I’ll not lose any sleep over it just yet…
