Good Night Out

Category: Eating Out,Friends,Kazakhstan,PersonalChrisM @ 10:13 pm

Just a quick post from the in-laws for now, but last night Ira and I went out to the Queen’s Birthday Party, organised by the British (! (/sarcasm)) Embassy, then went on to the BG Challenge Ball (see last year’s post – if I don’t get around to linking to it properly, it should hopefully pop up in the ‘related posts’ links below this text, and then finally onto a club called A8. We saw a lot of friends, some of whom had not met each other before, I wore a suit (!), had proper fish and chips (served in newspaper), and finally got to see if A8 lived up to the hype.
Can someone remind me to change that last paragraph from one sentence into something a little more manageable? Anyway, no photos as not enough pockets, but I’ll try and post more details soon, once I’m a little more alert.
I’ve just returned from a nice meal out with Walton and Assel, and returned to the in-laws where Aunty Sasha is.

The evening was defiantly very enjoyable. It was nice to see many friends in one place and have a chance to meet new ones. The funny thing at the QE’s birthday party was to have fish and chips wrapped up in the Financial Times!!! It was a brilliant idea!

Indeed, I just wish we had managed to take a proper camera somehow with us. Looks like the events of this night will be taking their place at the end of the queue behind Amsterdam, Christmas, Mum’s Wedding, Amsterdam and my birthday…

    Hi Chris and Irrina,

was good to meet you guys at last and read a little of your “famous” blog ! Last Friday I met more English people than any other time I’ve been in Kazakhstan (2 years). I went virtually a whole year before really meeting any other brits when I moved here as I was not connected with the embassy or a British/UK company. re: the fish and chips, that really gave me something I missed about the U.K, one of the other things being wide open green areas, i.e. parks, to run or kick a ball around ! bit lacking in Astana !! hopefully they’ll put together a park like that at some point cos there sure is plenty of sun to enjoy it ! Anyway, will hopefully meet again with you and Irrina very soon.

    Daniel.

It was good to see you as well. By the way, if you google your site name, it asks if you meant “http://www.dianaandlaura.net/”, a site all about quilting !
Look forward to seeing you again.
