Now another bastion of Britishness has been discovered to have dodginess occurring with phone in competitions.

This time, GMTV, a morning TV program in Britain has been discovered to be using a company with disreputable business practices.
Viewers who called the competition hotline were charged premium rates, even when the winners had been selected - the phone lines stayed open, even though the company had no intention of letting the later callers ever possibly win!
