Eating Disorders

(USA Relevant)

When someone close to you has an eating disorder, be it Anorexia, Bulimia, NES (Night Eating Syndrome) or the many associated mental disorders (bi-polar, self harming, manic depressive) I know from personal experience (from a long time ago, obviously I’m not about to post her name) that the emotional stresses and strains, as well as the more visually obvious physical symptoms, can effect those that are close to the sufferer as well the person in question.

It can be very frustrating to know that someone you care about is unable to see themselves as the rest of the world does. Although people will often try to conceal their problems, whenever OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) or self harming is involved, it can be difficult (some would say luckily) to maintain an appearance of normality. Recognising that there IS a problem is the first step in trying to recover and achieve some sort of well being for the sufferer.

There are many treatment programs available, some of which are residential courses, where people can get away from some of the triggers that catalyse a person’s reaction to their perceived body image. One such residential course is offered by Cliffside Malibu, who also offer comprehensive Drug Rehab programs.
