Delayed And Short

Category: Personal,VideosChrisM @ 8:51 pm

I will need to ask Irina to re-watch this tomorrow, to check the accuracy of the translation, but here is the video from Channel 1 Eurasia. They popped over to our flat to ask about social networks versus real life relationships, as well as working from home. More text to follow later on, just wanted to put this up for now.

(“Delayed” because it was originally intended for broadcast on Monday, “short” because the interview was a good few minutes long, but obviously trimmed down for broadcast purposes.)

Fame at last!!!! Can we have your autograph?

Not at last!!! I’ve done some voiceover work for the oh so wonderful government here, and a couple of interviews before. You’ll also find that a pioneering media piece by Yeovil Town Council, very much pro-environmental awareness (mid-80s, before such considerations were mainstream) features a young, limelight grabbing cub scout by the name of Chris!

Not sure how I feel about the fact that the report starts, “Let’s look at social networks and the threats they pose.”

hmmm, I’ve not yet asked Irina for a proper translation, but I’d picked up on the general theme when they asked for the interview. When asked to participate, I explained my feelings regarding social networks, and even prepared a little beforehand, by making sure I had proper academic studies to back up my intuition re real life friendships etc. However, all of that was cut, leaving just the working from home part. Not a real complaint TBH, I understand the need to present a short & relatively snappy piece, just wish I could have had a chance to rebut the psychologists claims. Or at least a few minutes warning as to what the questions would be. C’est la vie… I managed to get a this blog’s URL on national TV at least 😉

Well, the mention of the Norwegian mass murderer was a bit over the top for my tastes, but the rest of it at least was vaguely grounded in possibility, even though there was basically nothing positive said about social networks.
