I sometimes wonder if people ever try and defraud ignorant foreigners of their money, by attempting to sell space for buildings where two countries meet - in which case, would you ever see a “No Man’s land for sale” sign? Before anyone states this scenario is too implausible, I have read of cases where officials have bought up land (at a cheap price) in disputed border regions, knowing that the government will soon be announcing a compensation scheme for citizen’s in effected areas, so the officials can make some money.
