Over at Ira’s parents, they have a 4 year old plasma TV, which is quite large. 46 inch if I had to guess, but I have not had a reason to get the tape measure out just yet… Anyway, they always have it displays images at a 4:3 aspect ratio, as they do not like seeing video that is stretched, and their satellite channels are not broadcast at 16:9 at all.
All of this is fine, except that if I change it to widescreen, you can clearly see burn in at the edges of the screen. One approach to fixing this problem is a DVD called Pixel Protector that can try and resurrect your screen to its original state.
Within the Pixel Protector DVD, you will also find a calibration section (as a very basic analogy, imagine fiddling with the graphic equalizer on your HiFi to achieve the best possible sound in a given room, with a certain set of speakers), and a screen saver, just like your PC’s so you will not suffer from screen burn in again. So what are you waiting for? Protect those Pixels now!
