As Promised

Yesterday I made reference to some happy news I wanted to relay to readers. I went for the first time with Irina to one of her ultrasound scans. All is well with our little baby, and I can now stop calling him or her a him or her. It turns out our little baby is (going to be? not sure on the exact correct tense and terminology) a girl.

We were very lucky as the doctor allowed us to take a copy of the pictures and a couple of videos with us, once we’d sourced a blank CD. Also included on the disc were some MVL files, which are the raw files the ultrasound scanner machine produces. A quick google found a demo of the program that is installed on the ultrasound machine, so we can now measure her little thigh bones, waist and head to our hearts’ content at home :) Anyway, after waking up the family back in Britain, we passed on the good news… now we just need to decide on a name!

Congratulations! Any name ideas or are you following the Kazakh tradition of waiting until it is born to name her?

She is so going to be Daddy’s little girl!

We have a few ideas, but nothing concrete yet. Obviously we want to choose a name that is easily pronounceable by both Russian/Kazakh and English people. Thanks for the congrats :)

A belated (on your blog at least, hope you got my text message) congratulations to you both on the good news of the health and sex of your growing bundle of joy :-) The fact that you can even post the scan pics of her is amazing. We will have to stick all of our heads together and discuss how long you are actually going to be staying in the UK for following her birth because there is no way I want to miss out on seeing her, and of course I can’t wait to catch up face to face with you guys. It’s been over a year now and what better opportunity are we going to get? xxx

I got your text, thanks. I replied, though I’m assuming that didn’t arrive? We are still figuring out when exactly we will be arriving in the UK, let alone leaving. Obviously her parents and friends over here want to see us all as soon as possible after the birth, so we will just have to see what happens. It looks as though they won’t be able to make it over sadly. I really hope we manage to meet up soon :)
